This Is Important, This MEANS Something.

Author’s note : I must confess I don’t always explain my titles, or even make reference to them.  I will say that today’s title references a location and Richard Dreyfus

We woke up this morning to get ready and go have breakfast.  The choices were underwhelming, and the area was extremely unkempt.  Of course, it was made worse by the idiot who put a bowl full of milk in the extremely full trash can.  So, it drained out the bottom, pooling on the floor.  The extremely overworked staff tried to mop it up, but without emptying the trash, it just started leaking again.  Yuck!

Going up to our room to load the cart, I could not get in - my digital key did not work on either door, and my physical key failed as well.  Carrie and I went down to the front desk (her role was to make sure I did not adequately express my displeasure) to get another key.  Back upstairs, it didn’t work as well.  Back downstairs, we had them make another key for Pat’s room, since we had adjoining ones.  This time, it worked.  We got the cart loaded, then loaded the car and finally left the hotel.

Our first stop was Devil’s Tower.  Of course, since I am a child of the 70s/80s, Close Encounters was a defining film.  When we topped the first hill where we could actually see it from afar, the excitement built.  We found some interim viewpoints to add some pictures, but when we actually got close - it was impressive.  After we entered the park, we had an opportunity to see some more prairie dogs.  They make Carrie inexplicably happy.  We made the drive up to the visitors center to get a stamp and some close-up pics.

By the time we drove down the hill, there was a massive line of cars waiting to enter the visitors area - good timing!  We stopped back by the prairie dogs massive compound, and Carrie got some nice pictures.  Exiting the park, we stopped at the souvenir shop to get a few more items for friends and family.

Now, we had the long drive through most of Wyoming to end up by the Grand Tetons.  Pat suggested an alternate route for today that gave us some truly amazing views.  It is hard to describe the sheer number of varied landscapes we saw just today - desert badlands, massive canyons, river valleys, flowing farmland, and ending up surrounded by mountains.

We found our lodging for tonight, and unloaded the car.  Then we headed for dinner, but first backtracked a bit for a scenic view.  Then we returned to the resort for dinner.  Once we finished, we went back to our cabin so Pat and Carrie could paint.  Our internet is so slow here that I doubt this will get posted tonight.
