No Crab for Emma

We got a later than normal start today, as our only planned event was cancelled due to sea conditions. Breakfast here was self-serve, so we all filtered through the various options and made our breakfasts. Carrie had found a list of possible destinations, and the primary plan was to get Emma some Alaskan king crab for lunch. Most of the seafood places were only open for dinner, but we had a few options for lunch.

On our way there, we stopped off at Safeway and pick up a few things. Then we went to the Alaska islands and ocean visitors center. We took a guided walk showing some of the local wildlife and plants. It was pretty cold and windy, so after some great pictures, we headed back to the center. By this time, the lunch places had closed for the afternoon. The restaurants here have the hardest time finding staff, and are only seating a fraction of their tables, and some have even closed. So Emma, “No Crab For You!”.

We got a massive pizza from the restaurant where we had dinner last night. 28 inches proved to be as large as expected, and was delicious. It was doubly nice to be eating it back at our home. We ate with the incredible views filling our windows.

After linner, it was game time. We started playing Carrie’s new favorite game - officially called Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza (or as I call it “Slappy Slappy”). Bruises, cuts, and partially dislocated fingers later, we moved on to Phase 10. Carrie ended up winning, but halfway through the game, I was up making cocoa for everyone, and heard a door close. We were all in the kitchen, so I investigated. There was a strange man in our bathroom/laundry.

I told everyone of that fact, and they all thought I was joking. Carrie and Pat got up, and Carrie inquired as to what was up. He was the person renting the adjoining unit, and thought he was in the right place to do laundry. We let him know this was, in fact, our unit, and our bathroom (I confess, I could have been more friendly about it), and he apologized and called the host to get clarity. We heard no more from him, but we did make sure the adjoining door was locked. Quite the bizarre situation.

Once we finished the game, we settled down to edit photos and type words. I’m sure I will never hear the end about my response to the interloper, but I will survive.
